A couple of years ago a friend of mine complained that she couldn’t find any plain old Legos. All she wanted were various pieces so that her kids could use their imaginations to create whatever they wanted. She did not want to limit her kids’ imaginations by always purchasing the pre-planned “follow the direction” Lego kits.

She did end up finding some at a second-hand shop. Since then I have noticed that plain old Legos are very hard to find in toy stores and in department stores.
